It Leaves me to Wonder

Cruel silence
the snap of ice breaking a limb
jagged edge, no recovery
what was once desirous now a blemished memory

Blessed quiet
snow cushions a tormented heart
scales open, seeds drop
who is to say what will grow in compassionate soil
